But there is still a difference between the two. You can't mix them up when you use them. If you are not exposed to this line, you may think that thermal silicone and thermal grease are the same product. In fact, they're not.

Although they are thermally conductive materials, they have different properties. Relatively speaking, the performance of thermal grease is relatively good. Thermal conductive silicone grease: Thermal conductive silicone grease is used for filling and heat transfer between high-power transistors, switches, integrated circuits and other chips and heat sinks. It has excellent thermal conductivity, high temperature resistance, aging resistance, waterproof, insulation and other characteristics.
Insoluble in water, not easy to oxidize, with excellent electrical insulation properties. It protects the circuit while improving heat conduction and improves the stability of the circuit. Thermal conductive silicone grease is one of the most widely used thermal conductive materials in the electrical and electronic industry.
The correct use of CPU thermal grease
1. First, clean the surface of the CPU core and radiator with a high-purity solvent such as high-purity isoamyl alcohol or acetone and a lint-free cloth (such as a cloth for wiping the lens). I think as long as the surface is clean and oil-free, this step can be omitted.
2. Determine the contact area between the heat sink and the CPU, and squeeze enough cooling paste in the center of the area.
3. With a clean tool, such as a razor, credit card edge or a clean knife, pick up a little cooling paste and transfer it to the corner of the CPU core (such as the lower left corner). Just a small piece, about half a grain of rice.
4. Put your fingers in a plastic bag, and then rub the thermal paste at the bottom of the radiator with your fingers until the thermal paste evenly covers the entire area in contact with the CPU. Clockwise and counterclockwise movements can be used to ensure that the cooling paste fills the gaps and irregularities in the bottom of the heat sink. Note: Do not apply directly with your fingers!
5. Wipe the thermal paste at the bottom of the radiator with a lint-free cloth. At this time, you can see that the color of the thermal paste at the bottom of the radiator is different from other areas, indicating that the thermal paste has evenly filled the gaps in the base.
6. Use a razor or other clean tool to evenly cover the entire core from a corner of the CPU core. The smoother the contact surface, the more the requirements for the cooling paste are for the bottom of the common radiator. The thickness of the thermal paste is about the thickness of a piece of common paper (0.003-0.005 inch). If the bottom surface of the radiator is bright and flat, the thermal paste can be thin to translucent.
