UV coatings are usually liquids, containing resins (or polymers), solvents (or water), auxiliaries, and pigments that can be added.

UV coatings are usually liquids, containing resins (or polymers), solvents (or water), auxiliaries, and pigments that can be added.

Resin: The resin can be regarded as the "film-forming material" of the UV coating, which combines various components into a continuous system and forms a coating film after drying. For higher relative molecular mass synthetic resins are generally more expressed as polymers. The polymer is usually highly viscous and a solvent (or water) is added to make it miscible with the other ingredients and to make the coating sprayable.

Base material: sometimes can be replaced with resin, but to be precise, the base material refers to the non-volatile part of the liquid medium in the UV coating. It combines pigment particles and other additives to make the coating film applied as a whole material. The function of the base material is mainly: the adhesion of UV coating to the substrate; Wrap the pigment and separate it from each other to prevent clusters; Maintain the fluidity of UV coating to form a smooth and uniform coating film, so that the coating film has good properties such as gloss; Maintain the physical and chemical properties of UV coating, such as hardness, flexibility, durability, recoating, abrasion resistance and impact resistance, water resistance, UV, chemical resistance and corrosion resistance.

Solvent or water: liquid solvent or water to reduce the viscosity of the base material to the degree of construction, and then its volatilization to form a film. The solvent measurement, or VOC, is subject to EPA control. Some solvents, such as acetone, are not controlled by the EPA and are not allowed to be discharged as VOCs in most states of the United States.

Pigments: Pigments are solid particles that provide UV coating color and gloss control and are insoluble in the binder. Commonly used pigments include inorganic pigments, organic pigments and metallic pigments.

Additives: UV coating formulations contain chemical additives that provide unique properties and improve coating performance. Commonly used additives include catalysts, anti-blocking agents, defoamers, flow control agents, gloss improvers (increase or decrease), storage stabilizers, UV screening agents, dispersants, and rust inhibitors.
